Did you know it’s possible for food to digest too slowly?
Gastroparesis, or delayed gastric emptying, happens when the muscles in the digestive tract don’t function properly, resulting in the stomach not emptying fast enough. This condition causes extreme discomfort and is incurable.
This condition is defined by a number of long-term symptoms, including:
– Vomiting undigested food from a meal hours earlier
– Weightloss and malnutrition
– Abdominal bloating and pain
– Feeling of fullness after just a few bites of food
– Loss of appetite
– Changes in blood sugar levels
This month is Gastroparesis Awareness Month. If you’ve experienced any of these symptoms, talk with your doctor to get assessed.
