World Thrombosis Day

QOTD: What is Thrombosis?

Thrombosis refers to a blood clot forming in a blood vessel, which could be located in any vein or artery in the body

Today is World Thrombosis Day, and with 1 in 4 people worldwide dying from conditions caused by thrombosis, knowing the signs of blood clots is imperative.

Signs vary depending on where the blood clot forms, with Deep Vein Thrombosis, manifesting very differently than a Pulmonary Embolism caused by a clot.

🩸 Deep Vein Thrombosis Signs:
Swelling, pain, warmth and redness in the affected limb (most commonly in the legs).

🩸 Pulmonary Embolism Signs:
Chest pain, shortness of breath, and rapid heart rate.

If you or someone you know develops these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
